Itinerary

Departing ship side, we travel through the outer eastern suburbs of Croydon and Lilydale, past acres of lush grazing pastures, orchards and award-winning wineries that represent the region's international reputation for super-premium cool climate wines – the Yarra Valley.

Arriving at Yering Station, Victoria's first vineyard planted in 1838, and Hall of Fame winners for Best Winery and Tourism Complex. Here you can learn all about wine-sampling and taste some classic Australian wines.

We continue along the Melba Highway passing the pretty township of Yarra Glen in the heart of the Yarra Valley and home to some of the best known wineries in Victoria. Then onwards to Dixon Creek, passing the historic Gulf Station (a pioneer farm) now run by the National Trust. Lunch today is at the award winning Ferguson's Winery and Restaurant where you will enjoy a superb spit-roast lunch with assorted vegetables and salads, petit fours and coffee/tea, plus of course a glass of wine!.

Departing for Melbourne City, we stop at St. Patrick's Cathedral – to see its splendid gothic revival architecture and then take a stroll through the beautiful Fitzroy Gardens where the pathways are designed to resemble the British flag – the Union Jack.  Here we can also see Captain Cook's Cottage - discoverer of the East Coast of Australia and walk through the Conservatory which holds regular floral exhibitions.

Continuing through the cities central districts we pass Treasury Place, Parliament House and Australia's most loved Princess Theatre, where the record breaking "Phantom Of The Opera" was performed. Marvel at the architecture of The Royal Exhibition Building which for 27 years housed the State Parliament. Adjacent to the Exhibition Building is the Melbourne Museum and Imax Cinema.

Next to the Italian precinct in Carlton where the city's famous café culture was born and is one of the great food precincts in Melbourne, then past Australia's largest and oldest market The Queen Victoria Market, the historic Flagstaff Gardens, Melbourne's tallest building, the Eureka towers before heading back to the station pier and your ship.
